Fly Fishing
Growing up on a creek I learned to love water and fishing. I got turned on to fly fishing in Colorado while in college and it has become a passion. I have fished from northern Canada and Alaska to the Beagle Channel and I welcome the opportunity to share my observations with you. My favorite fish are bonefish and winter steelhead but I seem to do most of my fishing for redfish on the Texas coast.

Photography
My interest in biology led me to pursue nature photography as a hobby. When asked if I would like to teach a class at Rice University I somewhat foolishly accepted for as an engineer I had no formal art background. My need for philosophy led me to take workshops with Ansel Adams and Oliver Gagliani. Over time my focus shifted more to social landscapes and most of my serious work has been in large format. My favorite landscape camera is a Wisner 4x10 but I am beginning to do some digital photography - particularly of nature. The link below allows access to recent photographs from Alaska.

Sourdough Bread
I began baking sourdough using a French leaven several years ago and baking sourdough has become a ritual. This link will soon lead to information on sourdoughs and baking.

Wood-Fired Ovens and Pizza
My love of sourdough bread led me to build a retained-heat, wood fired oven. Great pizza is now a passion.
